Hand Painted Silk Scarves

Hand-painted Silk Scarves make a lovely gift or a treat for yourself! 

I mostly use traditional French silk dyes that require steam-setting after painting to not only make them hand-washable or dry cleanable, but to also bring out the beautiful sheen of the silk.    First the silk is stretched on a special stretcher, then resist is added if needed for design.  With artists' brushes I paint using wet on dry and wet on wet techniques, which produces a one-of-a-kind scarf with a painterly look.
